Oral Pathology
- Focus on the chapter of DENTAL CARIES as it comprises 18 of the total marks.
- Preparation from CONTEMPORARY is highly recommended, as far as my experience goes, not a single thing comes from any teacher's slides or Neville or another book.
- Focus on all Histo diagrams for UHS centred ospe throughout the year
- Multiple revisions are recommended for memorizing and retaining histology of all lesions
- Focus on the classification as well, written at the start of chapter, sometimes a direct seq comes from those points
- Making notes on the books will be preferred instead of separate documentation, flow charts can be drawn on the sticky notes for short revision
- Focus on DAVIDSON mainly, lines from Davidson come as mcqs in UHS
- Watch youtube videos to get the concepts of chapters like CVS etc
- Must practice medical scenarios from past papers as you prepare the chapter
- Write all the important diagnostic points on the start of topic, there is always one identifying point which highlight one disease from other
- In UHS, mostly, in each chapter there are 3-4 topics from which seq comes each year, mark them and prepare the every spec of it e.g in CVS there are INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS, ATRIAL FIBRILLATION, HEART FAILURE, RHEUMATIC FEVER, PERICARDITIS etc
- Medicine is extensive but with time you learn to concise things and focus on the important things only
- Making your own notes on book is recommended
- Focus on head and neck portion more
- TOS is mostly not followed in surgery paper
- While attempting paper write all relevant diagnosis you know in attempting answer, it will benefit you
- Prepare surgical site infections both from DOGAR and Bailey
- Lines from Bailey and love come in the UHS mainly
- Prepare the MIDDLE EAR as well, from 2 years a seq is being made from this although not in tos
- Prepare neck swellings and some other portion of head and neck region from DOGAR special surgery as well
- For general surgery, prepare DOGAR completely except 2-3 chapters
Periodontology
- Don't restrict yourself to the past papers, 2023 UHS paper is not from past papers mainly
- The pet lines from CARRANZA come as mcqs in the paper
- Dental calculus chapter is hell lot of important
- Read the chapter, mark all the important points and discard the useless information, at the end you will get only certain things to learn (This is the way to cover the lengthy course of perio)
- Go through all the past papers as well
Oral Medicine
- TYDSLELY is recommended for preparation only
- Tables are very very important in this book, it summarizes all chapters mainly
- Go through past papers aswell
